2022 was the year when the shovel would finally be put in the ground for the first homes in the Inner Harbor. Construction has already been underway for several years with everything from land clearing to the construction of new quays, canals and parks. This milestone was to be celebrated with a big event in place in Norrköping’s most hyped district.
Interest in the project has been high for a long time, curious Norrköping residents, companies and organizations have knocked on the door to be allowed in for study visits. But the construction site has been closed to visitors until May 7, 2022, when the gates in the construction fence were opened for one day.
Around 800 visitors braved the light wind and dark clouds threatening the sky and took part in guided tours of the construction site, listened to presentations and visited the construction companies’ stands during the construction expo. Many also took the opportunity to try their hand at painting graffiti, climbing the climbing wall and testing out an excavator. And the vast majority left the harbour that day one step closer to their dream home by the water.
The village was responsible for the entire event from concept to implementation on site on behalf of the Inner Harbour’s developer group, which consists of; Castellum, Heimstaden, HSB, Hyresbostäder, Mannersons, Riksbyggen, Siegel, Skanska, Slättö and Norrköping Municipality.
