One step ahead with Stångåstaden

With one foot in the present and one in the future, Stångåstaden wanted to tell the story of both a successful and dramatic 2019.

A tumultuous year and an exciting future.

The primary purpose of an annual report is to recount the year that has passed, and there was much to say about 2019 for Stångåstaden. It was financially successful, but also the year when Stångåstaden came into national focus when one of their properties was subjected to an explosion in June.

But above all, Stångåstaden wanted to position itself as a company with at least one foot in the future. One step in this direction was the very format itself – the company choosing, for the first time, to produce a purely digital annual report.

Substantial and visionary

The result was a digital annual report, substantial and visionary in both its form and content.

The layout was structured around Stångåstaden’s five focus areas: Customers, property development, finances, employees, and sustainability. Using illustrations, subtle animations, parallax scrolling, filmed portraits, and interactive graphics, we framed the story of the company’s 2019.

We also had both external and internal experts offer their insights on future challenges. Interviewees included former UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson and chief economist Robert Bergqvist, among others.

The illustrations reflected the future opportunities and challenges for Stångåstaden, the housing industry, Linköping, and the world.

Filmed Chief Executive’s Statement

The jewel in the crown is the filmed chief executive’s statement, where Stångåstaden’s CEO walks through all of Linköping’s residential areas and talks about the year’s highlights and challenges.

In addition to the digital, more easily accessible, annual review, the statutory annual report sections and a comprehensive sustainability report were also produced as separate appendices, linked directly from the website.

The chief executive’s statement became a film, where CEO Fredrik Törnqvist, in a Sliding Doors-inspired walk through Linköping’s residential areas, talks about the year 2019.
